Half an hour of meditation followed by book study.

We read Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind by Shunryu Suzuki. There are a few copies available, as well as an online pdf. If you’d like to buy your own copy, please order through Brilliant Books — tell them you’re in the Buddhist Dharma Group and they’ll give you a 20% discount. The group is facilitated by Unsei, who is lay-ordained in the Order of Immediate Light — a Buddhist lineage that is a hybrid of Soto Zen (Japanese) and Karma Kagyu (Tibetan). Unsei’s teacher is Kyoun Sokuzan, the abbot of SokukoJi Buddhist Temple Monastery in Battle Creek, MI, where Unsei lived as a practice resident for two years.
